Very little is known regarding children’s author H.H. Squatchington beyond the large, rusted trunk full of his writings found in a dilapidated barn outside New Harmony, Indiana.

Piecing together snippets and notes scribbled in the margins from the vast collection of stories, journals, and verses he left behind, it’s widely believed he was a professor and futurist who was also devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A message to Squatchington’s wife inscribed on the inside cover of one leather journal summarized hiss approach to writing:

“Dearest Elizabeth,

The world needs stories of wit, whimsy, and wonder. Mystery, adventure, and romance are foundational for children and adults alike to discover their identities as key characters in the larger story of history and its redemption. This is why I write.

With the most ravishing of love,

H.”  (circa 1982)

We are excited to present Edison & Graham: Misadventures of the Meinrad Manuscript as the first of what we hope to be many volumes from the trove of Professor Squatchington’s work.
